All Karp MXPL model doors are insulated with 1" thick polystyrene ( 5.0 R-value ), and remain watertight due to a 3/8" wide x 1/8" thick closed cell neoprene gasketing between the frame and the door. All MXPL model doors swing out due to a galvanized steel exposed continuous hinge. Karp Model MXPL doors are surrounded by a 22 gauge expansion casing bead with metal lath on all sides of the 12" x 12" door. This feature provides a neat, tight, protected finish between the frameand plaster, additional plaster reinforcement may be neccesary for installation.
